Hero Marine Won't Get Medal Of Honor

A Marine sergeant singled out by President Bush for throwing his body on a grenade to save his comrades in Iraq will not recieve the Congressional Medal Of Honor.

Sgt. Rafael Peralta, lay wounded on the floor of a house and grabbed a grenade that had been lobbed by an insurgent. He absorbed the blast with his body, dying instantly.

I'm still trying to figure out what may have played into their decision... the fact he was already wounded, maybe by friendly fire, Or that it's not a "declared war". Whether he was already wounded or not has nothing to do with the situation. He gave his life not only for this country, but for the fellow soldiers that would have been killed by the explosive. If that isn't grounds for the CMH, then noone deserves to get it. The CMH has been given to soldiers that saved other lives by carrying soldiers to saftey, allowing them to live is just as heroic. This whole matter is just supposition, that others would have jumped on the grenade..Boggles the mind.
